Does COYI mum have a log in?

Not that I'm aware of, but I know she is incredibly proud of a son who was the first in our working class, East End family to go to university, the get a masters degree and go on to have a successful business career commanding a six figure salary.

Eldest was diagnosed with Dxslexia and Dxspraxia (All the Dyxs basically) Always been sweet natured and caring, He got a passion for cooking and baking at 13, worked since that age, first bottle washing then front of house, then food prepping..

Got his driving licence after four attempts at the written. Bought a car and got work at a bistro recently opened by a London chef who moved out to Essex got start his own place, took a paycut to do it but realised the experience he would get and the responsibility would be invaluable.

All whilst doing three years studying to be a chef.

Now works in Canary Wharf catering for a corporate solicitors, had a recent promotion, bought a house with his fiancee and still only 22.

Youngest - Completely different. No impediments to progress, just not fired up. Has had short term jobs and only thing he wanted to do was a gap year. Saved his money got head down and got on his gap year in Oz only to have it cut short by C19. Took a while to get him back but when we did he had matured immensely. Now studying Sports Science, playing hockey. No mid or long term plan but where he needs to be.

Both completely different, both need completely different support and interaction one is just like I was at his age, the other very different but the common theme is I am stupidly proud of both of them.

PS Their support for the Hammers has never waivered and we are really enjoying being massive for the first time in their lifetimes.

Re: Pride in your kids
I'm proud of my kids naturally. But they are only 8 and 11 so haven't achieved much in their lives yet.

I am proud of my 11 year old as she has struggled with going to senior school. She wasn't ready and is a bit young for her age physically and mentally and has had some incidents which have knocked her. We had a torid time last week when she just point blank refused to go and there was I sitting on her bed with her at 8.30am (already an hour late for work) with her in tears saying she is going to run away.

Had the old chat with her about her going to school regardless so its best to make the most of it blah blah blah. I told her we will speak to the school but she's got to do her bit. And end of last week and this week she's been a star. Doesn't sound a big deal but for her it is. So really proud of her.

By the way Alfs - That is a superb story mate and i wish for son all the best in his new job. Very worthy.

My lad, at 12, farted on a packed bus on Blackpool Pleasure beach and emptied the top deck. Quality.

My daughter fucked off back to Australia with her mum when she was one. It broke my my heart but her mum was 15 years older than me (I was 17) and told me at the start of our relationship that she was always going back to her architect husband after their two year sabbatical.

She did tell me that she was on the pill (when obviously she wasn't) and the sabbatical was because he was 15 years older than her, couldn't make a child and fucked a student 15 years younger than him. I found this out about 10 years later.

What you don't know at 17 and fucking a Cambridge graduate eh?

Anyway, my daughter is the light of my life and a clinical psychologist, her husband is a marine biologist and they gave me the greatest gift I've ever known, my granddaughter last year.

I've bellyached for over thirty years that they couldn't live further away but they live in a remote place with zero covid. Headspinning how life goes and the worst news is the best news if you give it enough time.

My daughter when she was a teenager use to hang round with the wrong crowd. I focused on getting her education on track when we moved to a better catchment area and her grades improved. Now she a Director of an Industrial Cleaning firm gaining contracts with the likes of the MOD etc. Really proud of her!
